Description: JOB TITLE: RESTAURANT SUPERVISORUSUAL TIME OF WORK SHIFT: Varies with facility needs. Some full-time positions and some part-time positions.BREAKS: Two breaks, and one ½ hour lunch.OVERTIME: As required.MACHINES USED: Soda fountain dispensing machine commercial coffee maker, dishwashing machine, ice machine, vacuum cleaner.TOOLS USED: Kitchen utensils, various containers, (max. cap. 28 gal.), scrubbers, cleaning brushes & related tools. Mops, brooms, cleaning items.ASSISTIVE DEVICES: Utility carts, pushcarts, 2-3 step stools, serving trays.SAFETY CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT: Uniform dependent on outlet, non-slip shoes, utility gloves.SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: Speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. Basic computer experience.DESCRIPTION OF WORKPLACE/WORKSTATION: The work takes place at a variety of locations at a hotel’s restaurant, banquet and/or conference rooms, kitchen, serving and dishwashing areas. The surfaces at the locations are level, cement, tiled, carpeted, or wood. Cooking areas are equipped with anti-slip floor mats. Most of the work locations are both well-lit and ventilated. The Restaurant Supervisor may be exposed for limited periods of time to high and low temperatures when using the walk-in freezer/refrigerator, and while adjacent to grills, ovens, etc.DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASKS/PURPOSE: The Restaurant Supervisor’s primary responsibility is to efficiently handle all aspects of day-to-day restaurant work. They need to be comfortable working in the kitchen to cook food if necessary, or waiting tablesor bartending should a busy day require it. The Restaurant Supervisor must be able and willing to cover shifts in the restaurant if an associate calls out. Those who previously excelled in other restaurant jobs will know how to hire and train employees to work under them, and how to help those employees meet high standards of service and safety. Their job is to oversee smooth operations during service by assigning servers to tables and assisting front of house staff. They may also be responsible for adhering to budgets, placing orders for products and supplies or assisting servers complete their job duties during understaffed shifts.MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:The successful candidate will run the day-to-day operations of the hotel restaurant in a successful and efficient manner. This can involve many different tasks, including but not limited to:1. Managing work schedules of restaurant staff.2. Overseeing the activities of the restaurant staff.3. Assist in the hiring of restaurant staff, and training new staff members.4. Ensure compliance with all food health and safety requirements.5. Hold restaurant staff accountable and take necessary disciplinary actions to address poor staff performance.6. Oversee food presentation.7. Check in on dining customers to enquire about food quality and service.8. Assist cooking in the kitchen if necessary.9. Monitor the restaurant’s cash flow.10. Review customer surveys to develop and implement ways to improve customer service.11. Resolve customer complaints in a professional manner.Associate must adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the company including, but not limited to, those contained in the Associate handbook.Must be willing to perform other duties as assigned, of which the associate is capable.Requirements:
High School diploma or GED
Proven experience working as a supervisor in a restaurant
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
